Heya!
Dear Reader,
Hello! I’m Frankie Ray, and in this portfolio you’ll find my written pieces for Dr. Jamison’s class for the fall semester of 2015. Thanks for checking this out, and I hope you’ll enjoy the writings that I chose to put in this portfolio.
As the writer of all pieces (minus the famous ones) in this portfolio, I do have a few favorites. I personally am very proud of the Ice Garden Review, as it was written to go with my favorite project of the semester. Along with this review, I also quite like “Traditions”, which is an article written about an artifact that has a history with my family. Finally, I would suggest looking at the multimedia presentation for “Friendships”, as I worked hard on it and am still proud of it. It’s also quite entertaining, and you learn a little bit more about me, the writer.
My personal interests are shown in the famous pieces section, with two of my favorite songs that I feel represent me best, along with a video game that I am completely obsessed with. I’m actually very invested in video games in general, as I love to play them, even if I only got into them a little over a year ago. Music is very important to me, which is brought up in “Friendships”, as it is the basis for my closest relationship and has been a large part of my life ever since I was small. As I play viola and sing occasionally, I must say that I am also fairly good with music as well.
This semester has been a fairly good time for me. I have to say that I enjoyed this class, even with all of the ups and downs of personal life. Going through this semester, I was dealing with depression and suicidal bouts that caused school to be harder for me. I was constantly missing the tail end of class to go to psychiatrist appointments and therapist appointments to get me the right medicine so I could stay alive just a bit longer. In fact, the very reason I was going to different places was because of Dr. Jamison. On the third day of school, I believe it was, I was having trouble writing a piece because I couldn’t see a future for myself. I told Dr. J this, and then told her more than I believe any teacher should know about a student on the third day of school. She took me to the counselor’s office, where my mother was called and it was decided that I needed to get on medicine, fast. I need to thank her for helping me in the healing process, and although I’m still going through it, it probably wouldn’t have been as fast as it was if I hadn’t talked to her.
Even with all of this, I found I was able to be successful in her class, and I had a great time too.
Hopefully you can see my great time in these writings. In each reflection, it tells about what we were doing when the assignment was given to us and then what standards I achieved in each piece.
Thanks for checking my portfolio out! See ya!
Sincerely,
Frankie Ray
